What is an Au Pair:
We have au pairs available Nationwide. We have placed many au pairs in Cork, Sligo, Wicklow, Greystones, Bray and many other locations. If you are not in Dublin please contact us!
What is an Au Pair:
An AuPair is a young girl whose primary purpose in coming to Ireland is to learn English, through living with you and your family, and to experience Irish family life. In exchange, your AuPair will provide you with up to 40 hours childcare help per week and will babysit up to 2 nights. As a Host-family, you will be expected to understand that an AuPair is part of a cultural exchange programme and you must treat your AuPair as a member of the family, and not hired help.

Why have an AuPair:
It is a very flexible form of childcare. Having a live in babysitter will relieve a lot of pressure trying to organise childcare! It cans also a much more affordable form of childcare also AuPairs often introduce the children to their own culture and expose them to new languages.
      
If you are thinking about hosting an AuPair, please contact us as soon as possible. The more time we know in advance that a family needs an AuPair, the more likely it is that we will be able to provide you with an AuPair.

September is one of our busiest times. There are not always enough AuPairs for every family. It is for this reason that we will be giving families, who host summer Au Pairs, priority for September.

Information for Families wanting to host AuPairs:
As part of the service we provide to AuPairs, we will be making an initial visit to all potential Host-families, to ensure that the AuPair will have adequate living conditions (for example her own room and access to study facilities).
      
      
There are three different types of AuPairs:
      
AuPair Companion: This means that the AuPair is in the company of an adult most of the time, normally the mother of the children. She works a 30 hour week and is asked to baby-sit two evenings per week (never more than one evening at the weekend), she has two afternoons and evenings free, plus a day off at the weekend. She receives pocket money of €90 per week.
      
AuPair Minder: In this case the mother is working part-time, so the AuPair is totally responsible for the children for up to 35 hours per week. Free time is the same for the AuPair Companion. Pocket money is €100 per week.
      
AuPair Plus: This is where the mother is working full-time so the AuPair is responsible for the children while the mother is away at work. She has, however, only one evening of baby-sitting per week and normally has the whole weekend free. She receives €115 per week for 40 hours per week.

Classes for AuPairs:
APSC insist that all the AuPairs come to classes. There can be over 200 AuPairs at any time in the centre, so when a new AuPair arrives, the others will show her around and help her adjust. It is very important that the Host Family encourage classes, as it avoids feelings of isolation and homesickness.
      
Social programme.
APSC provides outings and excursions for all AuPairs. We encourage the AuPairs to take part once a month.
